A triathlete with little previous athletic experience dives right into the sport

When Carter graduated college, he was self-described as lazy and unmotivated. After one of the worst years of his life, he decided to get back on track and join a colleague in a triathlon. He had never swam laps in a pool and the last time he even rode a bike was as a child. Still, Carter persevered and went forward with the event.
"I scraped up enough change for a cheap Quintana Roo and began training for a sprint triathlon," Carter said. "After completing it, I was hooked! For me, it's much more than competing. It's using the physical and mental strengths that I've been blessed with to it's fullest capacity."
Carter's biggest accomplishment thus far has been completing a half Ironman only five months after doing his first triathlon, in which he finished the 70.3 miles in 5:30. He's placed 3rd and 10th overall in his last two events.
