Macaroni & Salt

Two major things when I think about diet and exercise are Carbs and Sodium. This article is for the gym nut and moderately nutrition perceptive. I have seen many articles, television commercials and series related to exercise and weight loss that focus on one thing. To me you should be able to know what is right from wrong – whether to get the fat free, reduced fat, or transfat free food and beverage products. Carbs and Sodium are two important things I want to introduce to you for your training.

The Story of My [Exercising] Life

As a kid I didn't really care about what I ate. My Mom made sure I didn't eat anything too bad, or if I did, that I didn't eat too much. I wasn't worried about eating healthy or about food in general. I didn't think I had to do anything about what I ate because I'm a skinny guy. However, as I began to get older, I began to put on some weight. It caused me to realize that I needed to get more exercising done, or I would end up overweight.

Day 2: Diet and Fitness Training for The Riverrock Events

Day 2 of my 10-day “intense diet and training discipline” before the Riverrock Events and Carytown 10K (May 15- May 17, 2009).

I jinxed myself and got sick, and no - it is not the H1N1 Swine Flu (thank God), but apparently, there is an allergy/cold bug going around that lasts about 48/72 hours also known as a minor head cold.  I am feeling a bit better today and try to resume the workout routine after work this afternoon.  I thought it was a mild case of breathing in too much Lysol sanitizer at the fitness center on Monday. I was stuck in bed wheezing and sleeping away the sickness unable to hit the treadmill and weights.  Aside, it was Cinco de Mayo and I did manage to take part in some celebration and shenanigans.  I am still young and “partying” and sickness is not a stranger to my friends and me.  Besides the sickness, weather in Richmond, VA has also affected training.  It is as if the cities of Seattle and London gave birth to a monsoon and stuck pins in a voodoo doll to create a week of rain in the city.  The weather calls for scattered thunderstorms the rest of the week; I am crossing my fingers that it stays far away.
