Days 3 & 4: Diet and Fitness Training for the Riverrock Events

Posted by: JYu

Well looks like I have had a spring cold versus the normal allergy attacks for the past week.  Being sick has certainly put a strain on my diet and exercise training.  What a bad time to be sick, but again it was better now than later.  It will be exactly one week before the Riverrock events, while I feel the anticipation building for the 25K total run I’ll be endeavoring, I’m feeling a bit apprehensive.

I am just looking to complete the course and have a great time especially for the Filthy Run 5K and the James River Scramble.  I decided to put all my intensity of running for the Carytown road race on that Sunday.  I’m crossing my fingers the weather will be cool to run the last 10K and possibly set a new PR. I’ll just have make sure I average 06:50 – 07:00/mile.

As for training I’ll definitely have to do 2-a day’s either Sunday May 10 and Tuesday May 12 to get back on my grind.  Here is a breakdown of my workout on Wednesday trying to sweat out the sickness:

  • Triceps Extensions [75 lbs | 90 lbs] 5 reps each
  • Arm Curl [45 lbs] 5 reps
  • Lower Back [110 lbs] 10 reps
  • Seated Row [120 lbs] 10 reps
  • Side crunches [25 lbs] 20 reps left then right
  • Abdominal crunches [75 lbs] 25 reps
  • Free Weights [15 lbs] 15 reps
  • Stationary Bike [Life Fitness machine, Hill Plus, Level 3] 3.50 miles

Diet:

  • Breakfast: Banana
  • Lunch: Peanut Butter and Crackers
  • Dinner: Pasta with Light Alfredo Garlic Sauce, Sautéed Chicken Breasts, and one garlic Texas Toast

Take a look at all the dietary/nutrition facts at http://www.nutritiondata.com/

I decided to let my body cool it off and made Thursday a rest day, Staying away from the work gym and my apartment complexes fitness center was like taking candy away from a little kid.  It was depressing, but I had to let the body recover and strengthen the immune system.

Therefore, Thursday just entailed working on projects at the office, meetings between 1PM and 2PM and attended the Social Media Club Richmond (http://twitter.com/smcrva), this kicked off its first meeting at Morton’s downtown.  It was a great event packed with social media geeks!  Here is a special shout out to the SMCRVA!  A bigger venue in the works, lets try the Richmond Coliseum.

Diet:

  • Breakfast: Banana, Orange Juice, IP-6 Inositol
  • Lunch: Dayquil, Quiznos cup Broccoli & cheese soup, and Italian Torpedo plain on wheat
  • Dinner: Mam Siam’s Lomein: vegetables, shrimp, and beef with wonton soup

So much for a fit week!  On the brighter side, TGIF Friday, I feel almost 100% better and will be hitting the gym this evening after work.  The next seven days are going to be brutal.

One last thing I would like to say Congratulations to all my friends graduating this spring semester including Matt (Hubbard from Hampden-Sydney College) and Zoë (VCU School of Business) I will see you guys later today for a final hoorah!
